Applications are invited for the part-time post (60% FTE) of Research Midwife - UKMidSS. The post is funded by the Department of Health Policy Research Unit for Maternal Health and Care until 31 December 2018, in the first instance, and is based in the National Perinatal Epidemiology Unit at the University of Oxford, Old Road Campus.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced midwife with research skills to work as part of a team on the UK Midwifery Study System (UKMidSS) and other projects. With responsibility for the day-to-day management of UKMidSS data collection, you will be the first point of contact for midwives reporting data and contacting the team with queries. You will have excellent communication skills and good attention for detail. As well as being encouraged to develop your own research skills, you will have the opportunity to co-author research papers, develop research ideas and contribute to the design of new studies.  

To be considered for this post you will have: current registration as a midwife on the UK NMC register; a first degree or equivalent, and/or a Master’s degree, including a substantial component of research methods, or equivalent practical research experience; experience of managing data collection for research; strong IT confidence and proficiency; and the ability to work independently and as part of a team. If no suitable applicants are identified at Grade 7, an appointment at Grade 6 (£28,098 - £33,518 p.a. pro rata), with an appropriate adjustment of the duties, may be considered.
