Research Fellow

Applications for the post of Research Fellow are invited from outstanding candidates with a track research record in the broad area of computer science, statistics, data science and machine learning, who are interested in the area of foundations of machine learning for scalable monitoring of network-wide events. The successful candidate will join an established and successful department and undertake research in these areas. The project is in the context of a research collaboration between the Department of Statistics at LSE and Huawei Research Laboratory in Paris, providing a unique opportunity to work on fundamental machine learning research questions motivated by real-world applications. The Research Fellow will work on all parts of the project, including literature reviews, methodological development, developing and documenting software code, conducting data processing and data analysis. The Research Fellow will be expected to take a leading role in publications arising from the project, and to present the research at national and international conferences.

Candidates should have: a PhD in one of the following fields: computer science, mathematics, statistics or another relevant subject by the time of the start date; a track record or trajectory of internationally excellent publications; proven ability or potential to publish in top conference proceedings or journals; and a clear, well developed and viable strategy for future outstanding research that has the potential to result in world-leading publications. Experience of developing and applying new computational, statistical and machine learning methods is essential.
