Health Economics and Outcomes Research Ltd has a dynamic team of 30 operational researchers, medical writers and statisticians working with global pharmaceutical companies to develop health economic models and to provide statistical analysis of healthcare data.

Within our growing team we have extensive expertise in disease modelling (cost-effectiveness and disease transmission) and the delivery of health technology assessments (HTAs), particularly in the areas of oncology, diabetes and infectious disease.

Role and Responsibilities:

HEOR is currently expanding and seeking to recruit a highly motivated individual to join our team full-time at our office in Cardiff to research and develop disease models and analyse healthcare databases.

Qualifications/Candidate Requirements:

  • Excellent Excel and VBA skills
  • A graduate qualification in computer science or numerical/statistical discipline.
  • Familiarity with multivariable statistical analysis and machine learning techniques, ideally using R.
  • Experience with database fundamentals/design, ideally using MySQL
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Main job Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will undertake work across two key areas [1] health economic disease modelling and [2] database analysis. Our disease simulation models are developed primarily in, or interfaced to, Microsoft Excel using VBA/C++ libraries and we require support in the coding, implementation, testing and documentation of these models.  Our statistical analysis is undertaken using large healthcare relational databases that require loading and interrogation to provide output suitable for analysis in R. We have a team of medical writers, disease modellers and statistical analysts; the successful candidate’s primary role will be to support this team with efficient and accurate coding and documentation. 

The role will require client interaction and therefore good written and oral communication skills are essential. The role will require the development of manuscripts suitable for peer reviewed publications and presentation of work at international conferences.
