Student Welfare Manager

University of Nottingham - QMC and Sutton Bonington Service Centre

Location: UK Other

The University has transformed the delivery of student administration and support with four new teams working from our newly refurbished Service Centres and dedicated spaces across our UK campuses. Part of this reorganisation was the creation of a network of Welfare managers and Officers across the new Student Services teams. A vacancy has arisen for a Welfare Manager within our School of Medicine team based largely at the Queens Medical Centre (QMC) in Nottingham.

The Welfare Manager is responsible for providing management input to the provision of welfare support to students; and involves line management for allocated Welfare Officers, being the first point of escalation for complex queries and active membership of relevant Faculty/School meetings.

The role holder will also be responsible for delivering an efficient, effective and informed pastoral support service to students in the School of Medicine at the QMC Campus; however a flexible attitude towards location is required as travel to other locations including Derby, Nottingham City Hospital and other sites will form part of the role.

The role holder will be part of the wider welfare network across the campuses, acting as a central dissemination point for all Faculty/School student welfare issues, with expertise and knowledge of good practice to inform Faculty/School policy. The role holder will work closely and extensively with professional/specialist University support services, escalating specific issues and referring students to such services as needed.

We welcome applications from people keen to join the Student Services welfare team at this exciting time, who are committed to delivering a high quality, professional service to our students and academics, and who have a flexible attitude to work.

Interviews will take place on Thursday 16 November 2017.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Tracey George, tel: 0115 74 86659 or email tracey.george@nottingham.ac.uk. Please note that applications sent directly to this email address will not be accepted.
