Lecturer in Journalism/Sports Journalism 0.6fte

University of South Wales - Faculty of Creative Industries

The Faculty of Creative Industries at the University of South Wales is building on more than a decade of teaching journalism with new developments that put mobile and social media at the heart of its general journalism programme and its new dedicated degree in Sports Journalism. The existing busy and vibrant team is seeking to appoint a Lecturer with the skills and experience in the areas of sport and mobile/social media, to help educate the journalists and communications’ workers of the future.

Join the journalism team at the Cardiff campus of the University of South Wales, where we are delivering a dynamic undergraduate course, plus adding to our portfolio with a new degree in sports journalism. We’re looking for someone with a wealth of practical journalism experience and a commitment to embracing change and innovation. You must be confident in reporting and producing sports journalism as well as general news and features. You will need proven ability in mobile journalism and the social web, whether your background is in online, broadcast, print or ideally across all platforms. You will ideally have experience of training or teaching, and a research profile, or convince us that you can contribute to debates about where journalism is going and what that means for the education of tomorrow’s communication workers. You will also need to be a good team player, and to demonstrate potential to lead a course should the opportunity arise. In return, you get to work with a vibrant team within a highly creative faculty, on a suite of courses with a great future, in the heart of one of the UK’s greatest cities. We are offering a part time, permanent position. If you wish to discuss this position informally, please email the academic subject manager, Dr Robert Campbell, at robert.campbell@southwales.ac.uk
