We are looking for an adaptable and highly motivated person to work with our technical support team at the Royal College of Art. 

To succeed in this role, you will need a foundation in coding languages and/or game engines; to enjoy working with learners of all abilities solving ambitious projects within a mission driven team of technology specialists; and a drive for continuous learning and development. This new role will be directly involved in the support and provision of Interactive Media activities at all three of our campuses, including our brand-new Battersea South Campus.

The Role

You’ll work with learners of all abilities to develop new Interactive Media projects and iterate on existing ones. You will have a passion to explore new and emerging technologies and the ability to steer and support students and staff in problem solving and finding technical solutions for complex and ambitious projects from ideation to end product.

You’ll join a diverse, close-knit team of talented and supportive individuals who openly share ideas with one another.

What you will need to have

  • Significant, highly skilled, specialist knowledge of one or more of the following: coding, game engines, XR (Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality development), Interactive Media and projection mapping technologies.
  • Significant knowledge and experience of at least one web-based language: Javascript, PHP, HTML, CSS.
  • Significant knowledge of at least one of the following coding languages: C#, C++, Python, JAVA.
  • Significant experience in the use of software development kits (SDKs).
  • Experience of day-to-day operation and maintenance of the XR & Interactive Media resource or digital training space.
  • Experience of planning and delivering in person technical workshops.
  • Experience using visual language programming would be desirable but not essential.
  • Experience of motion capture, spatial audio, mixed reality technologies, or physical computing would be desirable but not essential.
  • Experience of creating online learning materials is desirable but not essential.
