An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) to lead the Lancashire Forensic Science Academy, in partnership with Lancashire Constabulary and the Lancashire Police and Crime Commissioner.

Earlier this year, UCLan, Lancashire Constabulary and the Lancashire Police and Crime Commissioner entered into a strategic partnership to create the Lancashire Forensic Science Academy.

Through the academy, the two organisations are working together to:

  • Provide an unrivalled experience for continuing professional development and delivery of taught courses in Forensic Science, at all levels, to ensure graduates are meeting the needs of employers in the sector
  • Develop and delivery new and/or existing training courses to external parties, securing relevant accreditation where possible
  • Identify, develop and complete research in the forensic science arena including the implementation and validation of new or existing technologies to enhance processes and protocols;
  • Identify, develop and deliver consultancy services to external parties
  • Enhance forensic science services in Lancashire.

The academy is the first collaboration of its kind within policing and forensic science, where forensic science experts and students will work alongside each other in new, purpose-built police facilities to research, investigate and deliver forensic science services in Lancashire.

Do you want to be at the forefront of developing and overseeing the activities of the Lancashire Forensic Science Academy?

This is a key leadership and implementation role where you will have the opportunity to innovate and lead the development of Lancashire Forensic Science Academy through its curricula, research, CPD offering, income generating activity and work to enhance forensic science services in Lancashire.

You will work in partnership with experts from across the University and Lancashire Constabulary to develop and deliver all aspects of the Academy’s work.

The ideal candidate will bring experience of working in a relevant professional or Higher Education environment to build and develop new opportunities for the Academy and all its stakeholders.

This is a new role which will report directly to the Executive Dean, Faculty of Science and Technology at UCLan, but with appropriate reporting lines within the Constabulary.

For an informal discussion contact Dr Allison Jones, Executive Dean, Faculty of Science and Technology (aejones@uclan.ac.uk, 01772 892505).
