Are you looking to develop your business development career with a corporate engagement role at a prestigious organisation? The University of Birmingham is one of the most ambitious institutions in the UK and we are determined to be placed in the global top 50, with investment and strategic plans in place to enable us to achieve our objectives.

Our existing corporate partnerships have had a real impact on our University. They have allowed us to support and further our research enabling our researchers to make crucial breakthroughs, to provide an enhanced student experience through internships, and to offer academic consultancy and professional development for our partners. We now wish to grow our networks and engage further with international, national and regional business in order to double our corporate income.

To support this aim, we are looking for an additional Business Engagement Partner to work with our College of Medical and Dental Sciences, to exploit its leading position in translational medicine research and medical education for engagement with industry.

You will either be currently working in a business development role for another University and looking for a move to an ambitious and growing team, or alternatively may be in a commercial senior account management, business development, or fundraising role. You will have an enthusiasm for people, the skill to interact with high-level corporate professionals and academics, experience of delivering against KPIs and KPTs, along with the ability to passionately translate complex information into a compelling case for support in both verbal and written form.

Working to individual, team and institutional targets, alongside a central team of Business Engagement Partners, you will identify internal opportunities and match these to potential corporate partners. You will be expected to develop excellent relationships with existing and potential supporters, which will culminate in a corporate or strategic partnership, and to be committed to the vision of the University.

Within the College, you will be aligned to the Research & Knowledge Transfer Office, a team that spans from research strategy and funding application development through postgraduate research and training, technology transfer and strategic project management. More broadly, you will help to further enhance the strong regional strategic relationships that the College has with partners such as University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust, Birmingham Women’s Hospital, and Birmingham Children’s Hospital NHS Foundation Trust through Birmingham Health Partners.
