Research Assistant in Medical Statistics

Fixed term for up to 12 months

Applications are sought for a Research Assistant in Medical Statistics, to join the Critical Care and Perioperative Medicine Research Group. The Group sits within the William Harvey Research Institute at Bart’s and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry, Queen Mary University of London, and is led by Professor Rupert Pearse.

The post holder will contribute to data analysis for a wide variety of leading research projects including randomised trials and large clinical datasets. The work primarily relates to the care of patients undergoing major surgery but also a variety of patient groups with life threatening critical illness. Most projects involve national and international collaborations with similar groups around the world.

Tasks will include the development of statistical analysis plans, data cleaning, data analysis and preparation of scientific reports. Subsequent tasks are likely to include supporting the development of large prospective clinical trials, with particular emphasis on data capture and analysis. We are looking for an enthusiastic and talented individual to develop this new role within our team, and particular consideration will be given to career development of the successful candidate.

You will be a good communicator, team-player and be flexible, co-operative, self-motivated and hardworking with a willingness to learn new skills.

The post is full-time and fixed term for one year. We have funding to renew the post and expect to do so. Starting salary will be dependent upon experience Inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, defined-benefit pension scheme and interest-free season ticket loan.
