As a Careers Adviser your duties will include:

  • 1:1 careers guidance with students across all degree subjects alongside responsibility for a designated caseload of Schools.
  • Developing and delivering innovative and interactive workshops centrally, in Schools and on modules.
  • Establishing and maintaining strong relationships with colleagues across the university.
  • Building occupational knowledge and developing relationships with employers.
  • Leading on team, unit or service wide initiatives.

This is a fixed term post to cover maternity leave until December 2018.

Alongside their school caseload, the successful candidate will have specific responsibility for planning and delivering the ‘ncl+ Career Insights Award’. This exciting and growing initiative is the university’s flagship employability programme for widening participation students.

You must have a degree (or equivalent) and a professional qualification in careers guidance (or commitment to work towards one). Enterprising and self-motivated with personal impact, team and communication skills, you will have significant experience of 1-1 advice/guidance/coaching and of teaching, training or facilitating group work. You must be able to deal sensitively and productively with students, colleagues, and employers.
