Overview Of Role

A Research Technician is required to join the Genomics Group at Rothamsted Research.

Working with a multidisciplinary team of chemists, geneticists, biotechnologists etc., the postholder will form part of a larger effort to dissect the biosynthetic pathways of secondary metabolites of scientific and commercial interest.

The successful applicant will have extensive experience in a technical role having worked in a plant genomics or molecular biology laboratory.  Essential skills include nucleic acid extraction (DNA and RNA), PCR assay design and optimisation, DNA sequencing and analysis.  Experience in gene cloning, quantitative PCR to study gene expression and SNP-based genotyping would be advantageous, as would basic skills in bioinformatics.  Attention to detail and excellent organisational skills are also required.

The position will be at our Harpenden site with a full time 3-year fixed-term contract offered in the first instance with a starting salary in the range of £24,225-£26,573 per annum.
