The Research Fellow will be based in the City-Region Economic Development Institute (City-REDI) to work on a project funded by the East African Research Fund (ERDF) on the development of a systems approach to air pollution in East Africa. The successful applicant must work with other members of the team in the UK and Africa on developing a social science approach to understanding air pollution in three cities (Nairobi, Kampala and Addis Ababa). This includes both qualitative research including interviews and quantitative research involving the development of a diagnostics approach of socio-economic activity in three urban settings. The successful candidates will have a first degree and normally a higher degree in a relevant discipline e.g. Regional Economic Development, Economic/Human Geography, Urban Planning or Regional Policy.  They should also be interested in working in an interdisciplinary research team. Experience in conducting research in the Global South is desirable, but not essential.

Salary: Full time starting salary is normally in the range £29,799 to £38,832. With potential progression once in post to £41,212 a year
