BUiD has over 2,500 postgraduate students on 18 master's and 5 doctoral programmes all accredited by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. As part of its on-going success and growth, the Faculty now wishes to strengthen the team with an experienced, innovative, and enthusiastic academic who is committed to providing students with an enriching learning experience.  The selected candidate must have an earned PhD with a proven track record of teaching and research in Structural Engineering (StrE) at Master's and PhD levels.

BUiD has 3 ranks of the Assistant Professor/Associate Professor/Professor is to lead high-quality research, conduct effective teaching of BUiD students, contribute to the design and delivery of modules, and also represent BUiD in the wider local and international community in the relevant specialisations.

Specific objectives are:

  • The candidate hired for the position must have a strong international academic record in aspects of Structural Engineering particularly preferably in one of the following: infrastructure, geotechnics, highway or steel structures.
  • Long and diverse teaching experience at the postgraduate level is a must with special emphases on StrE.
  • Administrative experience in StrE programme is desired.
  • The ability and willingness to develop teaching materials and deliver generic taught programmes similar to StrE.
  • Interest and willingness to develop learning approaches using new technologies and a genuine interest in student centered approaches to learning and teaching.
  • Well-developed team work and communications skills.
  • Willingness and ability to interact with specialists from the public and private sectors in the fields of curriculum development and research formulation.
  • Contribute to the research activity of BUiD by:
    • Seeking research significant funding.
    • Contributing to research activities such as conferences and seminars.
    • Publishing in international journals.
    • Enhancing research culture by contributing to the development of research activities and research teaching.
    • Keen interest in developing a research profile contributing to BUiD and associated UK Universities.
