Salary: £13,183 to £15,273 per annum (pro-rata to £32,958 - £38,183 per annum) together with USS pension benefits.

The normal expectation is that the successful applicant will be appointed to the minimum of the scale with annual increments on 1 October each year (subject to completing six months service).

This is a part time position for 14 hours per week

Main Purpose of the Post
Based within the Department of Research, Engagement and Innovation Services (REIS) the main purpose of the role will be to provide peripatetic support and guidance to academics, Principal Investigators (PIs), research administrators and Professional Service Units (PSUs), through drafting, negotiating, managing and terminating contracts that facilitate research delivery and business engagement within Swansea University. This involves initiating a formal process to manage and deliver contractual agreements on behalf of the University, where working in a confidential setting where integrity and attention to detail are of primary importance. This approach will ensure clear communication and streamlined processes that lead to research accounts having contract completion prior to commencement.

In addition to University-wide support and advice, the post holder will be required to review internal approval forms and budgets, monitoring reporting obligations and liaise with business and research support staff to ensure all institutional obligations under the funding agreements has been met, ensuring compliance with University policy, and funding providers’ guidelines.

The post holder will be responsible for the negotiation of complex industrial research and collaboration agreements. The aim of such negotiations should be an agreed account of the conditions under which research will be undertaken giving a fair and reasonable position for the university and sponsor, in light of the individual research project circumstances.

Given the broad range of disciplines across academic Colleges and Professional Service Units, the post holder will be required to work proactively in a peripatetic manner with the College Hub staff (research and business related), academics and centrally based Professional Service staff
