The University of Reading has an ambitious vision for the future and as part of this has launched the IMAGINE Campaign, seeking to inspire significant philanthropic income and the volunteering of time and expertise from our global community of alumni and supporters.

The Head of Campaign and Supporter Engagement engages the interest, involvement and support of a broad range of stakeholders including supporters, alumni, volunteer leadership, academics, professional services and retired staff and parents in the work and activities of the University of Reading, through the strategic development and implementation of a comprehensive supporter engagement programme.

A key element of this programme is maximising internal and external engagement in the IMAGINE campaign. The post holder oversees planning and delivery of the Campaign, including identifying, developing and coordinating the implementation of campaign related activities, communications, materials and events; and managing the Campaign Ambassadors and other senior volunteers.

This role also has primary responsibility for leading a thriving Alumni Relations function that delivers demonstrable improvements in alumni engagement and support in line with University priorities.

With a strong background in alumni/customer relations, understanding of marketing and communications, and the ability to inspire support across a range of audiences, you will lead the program to significantly increase the engagement and involvement of our global community.

An expert in your field, you’ll be able to build and maintain strong networks of internal and external stakeholders, locally and globally. You’ll be an inspiring leader with proven ability to manage teams, projects and resources.

You will have:

  • Strong understanding of the global higher education environment and how alumni and supporters can contribute to a thriving institution.
  • Substantial experience in a directly relevant role, either in alumni/supporter relations or in a directly translatable PR or marketing role.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with a wide range of people up to the most senior levels and to inspire trust and confidence.
  • Ability to undertake periods of overseas travel.
