Applications are invited for the British Heart Foundation Associate Professorship of Cardiovascular Medicine, funded by the British Heart Foundation, to start as soon as possible. The post is associated with the Field Marshal Earl Alexander Professorship of Cardiovascular Medicine, held by Professor Keith Channon, and is based in the Division of Cardiovascular Medicine (CVM) within the Radcliffe Department of Medicine (RDM), and is in association with a Fellowship at Lady Margaret Hall. You will join a thriving Department which provides an excellent environment for multi-disciplinary research and teaching, and a College which offers a distinctive, friendly and supportive atmosphere.

You will be an internationally competitive and innovative clinical or non-clinical research scientist of the highest calibre, whose ultimate research goal is to improve human health. You will develop and lead translational research in cardiovascular disease and will contribute to sustaining and furthering the environment of academic excellence within RDM and CVM.

The principal duty will be to conduct international quality research in the field of cardiovascular medicine. Your research is expected to develop new strengths for the Division, with a focus on patient phenotyping in experimental medicine, for example cardiovascular proteomics and metabolomics, or cardiac/vascular imaging techniques and image analysis in relation to coronary artery disease. You will deliver teaching at postgraduate level, and carry out administrative duties as agreed with the Head of Department and College Principal. If a practicing clinician, you would be expected to be an Honorary Consultant Cardiologist and you will hold an honorary consultant contract at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. You must be qualified at MRCP or equivalent, hold an MD/PhD and a CCT in cardiology.
