Temporary contract for 12 months

We are seeking a PDRA to work on two Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) funded projects related to ecosystem methane dynamics spanning the tropics to the arctic. The project involves collaboration with a host of UK universities and international partners. The work will mainly involve synthesising results from ongoing research campaigns in the Amazon, some laboratory work on methane exchange on permafrost soils collected from Alaska and preparation of the results for publication and presentation at conferences and workshops.

You should possess or be very close to submitting a higher research degree in a relevant scientific field, have knowledge of carbon dynamics in topical ecosystems, have well-developed self and time management skills and be able to communicate clearly, both orally and in writing. An interest in biosphere atmosphere exchange would be desirable together with experience of working in challenging conditions in the tropics. The research will involve some travel for data collection and for dissemination of results. Ideally you will start in the role no-later than February 2018.

Closing date: Noon on 5 January 2018

Interview date is 22 January 2018.
