The salary will be paid at Grade 6 £33,518 -  £39,992 per annum or Grade 7, £41,212 to £49,149 per annum, plus  £2,923 per annum London Allowance.

The School of Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Sciences has been awarded £12.1 million from the Wellcome Trust and EPSRC to create a new Centre for Medical Engineering. We are seeking an experienced MRI Parallel Transmit System Engineer to support the Centre’s research activities. The purpose of this post is to design, build and exploit a complete radiofrequency (RF) system that adds a comprehensive parallel transmit capability to 1.5T or 3T MRI systems. The role will involve working closely with colleagues in King’s College London and our industrial collaborator Siemens.

The post would ideally suit a person who has skills and experience in RF systems engineering and their use in parallel transmit (pTx) MRI systems, for example with ultra-high field systems. The aim is to create a comprehensive pTx capability on a state-of-the-art clinical MRI system and to explore how to exploit this technology for MRI guided interventions, imaging of patients with implants, and efficient imaging using surface array coils. In work to date we have exploited pTx technology on a wholly prototype 3T MR system; the objective now is to integrate the technology into a more standard clinical system to potentially widen the impact of this work.

The selection process will include a panel interview.
