Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Public Policy and Public Management

The School of Government seeks a passionate and motivated person to build their career with us, beginning in 2018. We are particularly interested in applicants with a breadth of theoretical and applied interests for Lecturer/Senior Lecturer position in Public Policy and Public Management.

The successful applicant for this open-term position will be expected to conduct research with international standing, collaborate with other researchers in Victoria University and elsewhere, and seek external applied research funding. Our Wellington location offers exceptional opportunities to engage with all aspects of public policy and its management.

The appointee will also provide excellent teaching in multi-disciplinary undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional degrees. They will have the opportunity to supervise Master's and Doctoral students, and provide service to the School, Faculty, University, and New Zealand public and community-sector organisations.

School of Government

The School of Government serves the public interest by promoting excellence and leadership in research, teaching, scholarship, and debate regarding the issues that are critical to the public sector. The School consciously seeks to maintain a long-term strategic partnership with the government in New Zealand and a network of relationships with other external stakeholders. These guide all its activities. The School blends academic and practitioner expertise and all relevant disciplines in:

  1. offering courses which form part of degree programmes;
  2. academic research and scholarship, resulting in publication;
  3. developing and pursuing a strategic research agenda;
  4. leading the strategic development of short courses and professional programmes; and
  5. undertaking contract research.

The School also acts as an independent forum for debate and the proactive generation and public dissemination of new knowledge and best practice about important issues of moment.

The School offers NASPAA accredited Master's degrees in Public Management and Public Policy, as well as a Masters in e-Government, a PhD and undergraduate study in Public Policy. VUW has the only NASPAA accredited programs in the Southern Hemisphere.
