Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst Site

Limit of Tenure one year in the first instance

A postdoctoral research associate position is available at the Stevenage Bioscience Catalyst site, associated with Professor Clare Bryant and David Klenerman.

This project aims to characterise and develop our novel small molecule inhibitors of Toll-Like Receptor 4 as potential therapeutics against Alzheimer's Disease. The postholder will use established HEK293 reporter gene assays and THP-1 macrophage ELISAs to measure the antagonistic activities of small molecules and to investigate their modes of action. Alongside this, the successful applicant will develop assays to examine TLR4 inhibition in astrocyte and microglia cell lines, in collaboration with the Department of Chemistry.

Applicants must hold a PhD in pharmacology, biochemistry, molecular biology, immunology or a related discipline. Useful experience would include handling the cell lines mentioned previously, working with neural cell lines and knowledge of innate immunology.

Fixed-Term: This project is currently funded for one year in the first instance, with a second year of funding dependent on completion of specific milestones.
