Research Associate in Robotics / Computer Vision

UCL Surgical Robot Vision group is seeking an outstanding candidate to join our research team on the GIFT-Surg project. We are seeking a post-doctoral research associate to work on developing links between robotics and computer vision techniques. The candidate will develop techniques which advance both theory and practical implementations.

Additionally, the candidate will investigate how systems are used by clinicians and how trainees develop clinical skills to manage imaging systems and other instruments. This post is funded for 24 months in the first instance.

We are seeking a post-doctoral research associate to work on developing links between robotics and computer vision techniques. In particular we will advance real-time information processing of images acquired in utero using a fetoscope and using ultrasound and how such information can be used in visual servo for robot control. The candidate will develop techniques which advance both theory and practical implementations.

The candidate should have a PhD (or will shortly be assessed for a PhD level qualification) in computer vision, medical image computing, biomedical engineering, or a comparable subject. Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at research assistant Grade 6B with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of the PhD thesis (including corrections).

The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £34,635 - £41,864 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
