Histology Technician, Explant Team

Part-time (0.5FTE 17.5 hours per week) fixed term contract until 31 December 2019

This post is funded by LifeArc and is aimed at delivering on key milestones set out by the explant contract, a partnership between the University, MRC Toxicology Unit, Cancer Research UK Innovation Partnerships and LifeArc.

In this role, you will provide technical support, specifically to facilitate tissue processing, histological staining and analysis of explant tissue. You will also be required to support the running and maintenance of the explant laboratory to GCLP standards, including ordering and equipment monitoring. You will also need to be confident in training staff and students involved in the handling of human tissues.

We are looking for a proactive individual, who has experience in a biochemical or clinical research environment. You will be educated to ONC or NVQ level 3 standard and be experienced in histological analysis and processing of tissue. You will also be able to demonstrate a knowledge of working in a quality managed environment (GCLP).
