Enterprise/Research Associate in Development and Higher Education

Loughborough University - Department of Geography

Fixed-term position from 1 April 2018 to 31 March 2019

The Department of Geography is seeking to appoint an Enterprise/Research Associate funded by the Higher Education Innovation Fund to work on the project 'Facilitating philanthropic engagement in African Higher Education'. The project is in collaboration with the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).

This post offers an excellent opportunity to be part of a combined team of academics with research experience in philanthropy and the global geographies of HE, and leading professional experts in supporting philanthropy within HEIs in East, West and Southern Africa.

This post's primary purpose is to produce materials and resources that will shape the future work of CASE in Africa and enable African HEIs to develop their cultures of philanthropy with a view to realising their institutional missions. The post holder will co-create and test the materials with a selection of African universities.

The successful candidate will make a primary contribution to the development and delivery of the project, working closely with the project team. The post will be based at the CASE office in London.

The successful applicant will have a background in a relevant social science discipline, and experience of working independently and collaboratively in an international recognised academic or professional environment. Applicants should possess a PhD or equivalent relevant experience.

Informal enquiries should be made by email to Michael Hoyler, Reader in Human Geography, Department of Geography, Loughborough University, M.Hoyler@lboro.ac.uk.

The closing date for receipt of applications is 21 March 2018 and interviews will be conducted between 4-6 April 2018.
