Lecturer in Pharmaceutical Chemistry

The Reading School of Pharmacy is seeking to appoint a lecturer (fixed-term of 5 years duration) in the Division of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Chemistry, to join our existing Pharmaceutical Chemistry staff. The priorities for this teaching and research post is to deliver and develop high-quality teaching of pharmaceutical chemistry to students on our MPharm programme, and to carry out independent high-quality, grant-funded research in the broad area of pharmaceutical chemistry. We would welcome applications from candidates with experience in areas that are allied to our existing areas of expertise.

The post holders will be expected to:

  • Build and sustain an internationally excellent programme of research in the Division of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Chemistry.
  • Supervise research staff and PhD students.
  • Deliver and develop high-quality teaching of pharmaceutical chemistry.
  • Take a share, at an appropriate level, of administrative tasks as required to support the core work of the department.

You will have:

  • A degree and a PhD in Chemistry, Pharmacy or a closely-related discipline.
  • A strong knowledge and understanding of pharmaceutical chemistry.
  • Experience of teaching at a level commensurate with your career stage.
  • Experience of completing research programmes, as evidenced, for example, by peer-reviewed publications in high impact journals, and/or conference presentations.
  • An ability to pursue original, independent research, and to collaborate with other members of staff on research projects, where appropriate.
  • Good communications skills.
