£33,518 to £38,833 per annum (pro rata if part time), a, together with USS pension benefits if required.

The normal expectation is that the successful applicant will be appointed to the minimum of the scale with annual increments on 1 October each year (subject to completing six months service).

This position may involve teaching across College of Arts and Humanities (COAH) programmes including those in the School of Education, the Department of Adult Continuing Education, and cross-COAH modules. This may involve occasional working in the evenings or weekends in order to deliver off-campus or out-of-hours teaching and recruitment activities.

The Department:

The fast-growing Media & Communication department at Swansea University is looking to appoint a Lecturer in Journalism to help develop and expand its teaching and research portfolios. The department seeks someone with an established research record who can demonstrate their contribution to the development of critical theory and empirical research in journalism. With a proven record of securing external funding, the successful candidate will work with the department’s team of inter-disciplinary media and communication researchers to combine social science based research with a humanities perspective. We are looking for someone with the motivation and ability to make a significant contribution to the research culture of the department.

The Role:

In addition to research expertise, the department is specifically looking for an experienced and successful journalism teacher with experience of programme development who can explore expansion of the department’s undergraduate journalism provision. We are looking for an inspirational team-player who can contribute to the University and Department’s ambitions to be at the forefront of digitally-enhanced learning, helping to build on the Department’s excellent student experience record.
