Practice Educator in Pre-registration Nursing (2 posts)

We are seeking to appoint a number of enthusiastic practice educators to contribute to the provision of high quality practice based teaching within the Institute of Health. These posts have been developed to predominantly support the pre-registration nursing programme. You will provide support to academic staff in the Institute of Health in the delivery of teaching with an emphasis on skills and simulation, including mandatory training, medicines management and specific skills. You will provide support for student learning and will assist academic staff in teaching, assessment and the development of learning support materials. You will nurture, supervise and guide students learning in the practice environment, seeking out innovative opportunities for learning to enhance the student experience.

You will be educated to a minimum of degree level and will be currently registered in the UK with the Nursing and Midwifery Council as a registered nurse in one or more of the four fields of nursing. You will be willing to undertake a PGCE in higher education.  

You will have experience of healthcare provision at an appropriate level within nursing. You will have an understanding of healthcare policy and provision both locally and nationally and experience of supporting students in practice. You will have a commitment to engaging with the practice environment and maintain up to date knowledge and skills relevant to nursing practice; in order to deliver a dynamic, responsive curriculum. Enthusiasm for teaching and development of learners is a fundamental aspect of the role both in practice and in laboratory learning. Dedication to innovative teaching activities within nursing are also a requirement of the post, to contribute towards the portfolio of nursing and the profile of the faculty. Effective communication skills between the University and practice partners are an essential component of the role.

The roles will require cross-campus working at Wolverhampton, Walsall and Burton campuses.
