Business Relationship Officer

University of Kent - Kent Innovation and Enterprise

The Business Relationship Officer is a key appointment within Kent Innovation and Enterprise (KIE). The successful applicant will link university expertise to external engagement, proactively interfacing between businesses and the university, securing, coordinating and developing collaboration projects to generate income and increase the university’s enterprise and knowledge exchange portfolio.

As Business Relationship Officer you will:
  • Proactively engage with a range of sectors across the business community, identifying opportunities for collaboration and securing their investment, thus growing the University’s current enterprise portfolio and generating income
  • Assist in the development of academic business collaboration with the private, public and third sectors, including Knowledge Exchange (KE) opportunities and expertise
  • Undertake targeted research to identify external opportunities that align with the universities expertise, using this knowledge to approach and engage with relevant businesses to grow overall engagement

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A proven track record of business development experience gained in a goal focused, target driven and customer service orientated environment
  • Experience of being pro-active in engaging in external business meetings, facilitating face to face discussions to deliver successful income generating projects
  • Demonstrable track record over a number of years of identifying prospective business leads and turning these into sales projects

The office comprises five teams;
  • Business Development
  • Commercialisation
  • Industrial Strategy
  • Student Support and
  • Project Development and Funding and is supported by a dedicated administration team.
