This job description is indicative, not prescriptive, and the balance of duties will be in accordance with the contract of employment.

Applicants for the post of Professor must meet, and continue to meet, Cardiff Metropolitan University’s criteria for such appointments.

Job description
This is a key post that will contribute to the ambitions of the University’s new Strategic Plan 2017/18 – 2022/23.

The School seeks to appoint an enthusiastic and dynamic academic who will provide leadership across a range of areas.

As a Professor you will work in the School of Technologies which, at present, is based on the Llandaff Campus. This new School has been established to address student demand and employer need and, building on its existing and strong Computer Science offerings, will focus in the shorter term on Digital Media, Smart Technology, Data Science and Informatics and Technology Design. In the medium to long terms, the school’s ambition is to grow its engineering capabilities to offer a range of engineering programmes in electronics, control, embedded systems and systems engineering. This will allow it to enhance its existing capabilities in robotics and move to wider and more ambitious applications within the autonomous systems domain. Accordingly, it is looking to both support and enhance its learning and teaching capabilities and to augment its existing research base whilst establishing a research community that supports the growing programme portfolio.
