Salary: Grade 8 £39,992 - £47,722 per annum, with potential to progress to £53,691 per annum through sustained exceptional contribution

Summary:

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a University Teacher to join the Design, Manufacture and Management (DMM) group within the Department of Mechanical Engineering. You will be part of one of the most successful Mechanical Engineering departments in the UK, with over 1000 students (Undergraduate, Postgraduate Taught and Postgraduate Research) and 55 academic staff.

The post holder will be responsible for the delivery of teaching materials and programmes; therefore a familiarity with different strategies to promote learning and a demonstrable interest in enthusing and engaging students is essential.

This position is key to the development of Engineering Design within the Department of Mechanical Engineering. You should therefore have the ability to take responsibility for the effective and efficient delivery of teaching programmes, developing curricula and appropriate assessment techniques.  Excellent communication and interpersonal skills will be required as well as experience of working across departments and teams to plan and progress projects.

We are looking for an active and successful Engineering Design teacher, and welcome applications both from individuals with a track record of engineering design teaching and from those who have extensive professional experience in this field.

The successful applicant will hold a good Honours degree in Engineering or Science, and either a PhD or EngD in a relevant subject area (for example: Engineering, product design, industrial design); or have a significant graduate-level vocational experience as an engineering design practitioner.

We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.

We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to the greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.
