Senior Lecturer/ Principal Lecturer in Early Years (one post available)

We are looking to appoint a full-time Senior Lecturer/ Principal Lecturer in Early Years (dependent on experience and qualifications) to join our busy and thriving Learning, Teaching and Research department from August 2024. Students at Norland study a unique combination of the BA (Hons) degree programme together with the Norland Diploma, a practical-based course which prepares students for working with babies, young children and their families. The successful candidate will need to be a self-starter, with the ability to get on well with people, be highly organised in order to meet deadlines and work to a high level of accuracy in a fast-paced environment. A flexible approach to work and a friendly, approachable nature are key to being successful in this role.

We will appoint to one of the following roles only

Post title: Senior Lecturer in Early Years

Salary: Grade J - £42,786- £46,804

You will teach on both the degree programme and the Norland Diploma. This will include preparing and delivering lectures and marking student assignments. The role will also require you to be a personal tutor, a dissertation supervisor to students and an external examiner. You must hold a relevant higher degree (Masters) and show a willingness to undertake further CPD and qualifications, including a Doctorate. You will also have considerable experience teaching HE students in the early years. You must have an emerging portfolio of publications and demonstrate that you have extensive experience working as an external examiner. You must also be able to demonstrate experience of working with babies, young children and their families.

Post title: Principal Lecturer in Early Years

Salary: Grade K £48,678- £53,968

You will teach on both the degree programme and the Norland Diploma. This will include preparing and delivering lectures and marking student assignments. The role also requires the post holder to be a personal tutor, a dissertation supervisor to students and an external examiner. You must hold an MA in a relevant discipline, be research active and published or actively working towards publication. Having a doctorate would be expected if you operate at Principal Lecturer level. You must have substantial experience of teaching at HE level which includes contributions in teaching, research and related administration as well as extensive experience of working within the early years sector with babies, young children and families.
