Senior Lecturer in Education (Early Years)

The Role

In this role, you will join our team of committed academics who enable students to transform lives through their practice. You will be a key member of the Early Years team in the Department of Education and Lead our popular work based learning Foundation Degree in Early Years degree delivered in collaboration by our partner colleges and schools across London. You will support a diverse range of students and teach on a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Early Years (birth to eight years) and teacher education. This will include teaching one evening a week and several Saturdays across the academic year (with commensurate late starts/time off in lieu).

The Person

You are an inspirational Early Years advocate who is passionate about Early Years (birth to eight) education. You already show you meet the University’s values of being innovative, ambitious, inclusive and enterprising and will be excited to move our provision forward. You have experience of working in the Early Years sector, have a good understanding of the diversity of provision within this and the demands to workbased learning. You are creative, flexible, proactive and enthusiastic about responding to new developments in the field of Early Years.

You are currently or keen to become a research-engaged academic. You will contribute new knowledge to the field of Early Years through your research and scholarly activity and, in turn, enhance students' learning and practice. You are also someone who relishes the opportunity to undertake a wider area of responsibility in the Department and School.

Applicants will be required to demonstrate that they meet the Kingston University standards in learning and teaching, and research. By the end of the probation period, you must have achieved the relevant level of UKPSF recognition (if this has not already been obtained). For those new to teaching, this will be through our accredited Introduction to Learning and Teaching and for those experienced in teaching, through our Kingston Academic Practice Standards Framework.

This is a full time, permanent position with a starting salary of £48,251 per annum.
