The College of Arts & Society, located in the new state-of-the-art Delia Derbyshire Building, is a vibrant community of scholars, researchers, and practitioners with profile across the globe and a heritage of quality built up over 180 years. The School of Art & Design, one of four schools in the College, is home to subject disciplines including Animation, Architecture, Automotive & Transport Design, Design Management, Fashion, Fine Art, Games, Graphic Design, Illustration, Interior Architecture and Design, and Product Design.
The Role
We are looking to appoint an effective Teaching Fellow in Graphic Design to design and deliver wide-ranging, impactful teaching and learning experiences with a diverse student cohort.
We pride ourselves on offering an all-round Graphic Design education that prepares students for the future, with courses balancing rigorous teaching of discipline specific principles with industry demands. As Senior Teaching Fellow you will deliver teaching underpinned by six key pillars: technical mastery, critical thinking, problem solving, storytelling, employability, and experimentation. Above all, you will contribute to the course offering students more than just a simulation of the working world, providing a space for risk taking and serious play.
The purpose of the role is to empower students to engage critically with their practice throughout their programme of study. With a focus on employability and the application of practice in a range of professional contexts, as Teaching Fellow you will help nurture and grow our connections with industry.

The successful candidate will be confident to engage with physical and online teaching methods, practices, tools, and an integrated and at times cross-disciplinary approach to studio teaching and learning.
Our successful candidate will bring a robust general knowledge of the discipline (history, theory and practice) and connections to the design industry. With a passion for design pedagogy, you will be committed to creating impactful and effective learning experiences.
You will be keen to continue/build an academic profile in Graphic Design, with the drive to further develop the profile of a distinctive programme for the School of Art & Design.
You will bring critical thinking and an enthusiasm for imparting research and design writing skills, as well as a strong grasp of design principles. Joining a global education provider, you will also demonstrate high levels of cultural awareness and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds. Conscientiousness and agility in your teaching style is essential.
An awareness of the current design landscape and connections with the design industry either through personal practice or participation in design communities is very welcome. Similarly, a critical interest and experience in emerging technologies such as AI and AR, is desirable.
