Job description
We are currently seeking a dedicated Project Manager, to manage a broad range of cross university projects in collaboration with colleagues and University stakeholders. This is a key role in managing change projects, along with supporting the wider remits of the Strategic Projects & Change Unit. (This is a 12-month, fixed term contract)
About the role
As Project Manager, you will be part of the university’s Strategic Projects & Change Unit and will be working on several strategic themes across and within different academic schools or departments. You will excel in planning, execution, and evaluation of university-wide projects, ensuring alignment with our strategic goals and will help develop and promote best practices in project management, collaborating closely with senior leadership and Strategic Projects & Change Unit to ensure clarity on objectives and methodologies. You'll maintain effective communication channels with stakeholders, project sponsors and project teams, providing regular updates and proactive risk strategies and deviations to plan and budget. Monitoring and coordinating progress will be key, along with helping to ensure team members are well briefed and motivated to effectively deliver specific project aims.
About you
You will bring a degree or equivalent professional experience, coupled with a track record of managing projects of varying scales from inception to completion. Your ability to craft clear project documentation and effectively communicate across departments and with stakeholders at all levels will be crucial. You'll demonstrate detailed knowledge of project management principles and practices, alongside outstanding interpersonal and negotiation skills. With a customer-focused approach and the ability to adapt flexibly, you'll excel in collaborative environments, motivating and advising team members while effectively managing workloads. Your strong organisational abilities, coupled with calmness under pressure will ensure you prioritise tasks and successfully meet deadlines.
