The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) is a world-leading professional membership organisation that promotes, develops, and supports chartered accountants and students worldwide. We provide qualifications and professional development, share our knowledge, insight, and technical expertise, and protect the quality and integrity of the accountancy and finance profession.

As we continue to evolve and innovate within the professional education sector, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a seasoned professional to join our team as the Head of Qualifications Development. This role is pivotal in ensuring that our qualifications remain at the forefront of the accountancy, finance, and business industries, meeting the needs of our key stakeholders and reflecting the latest in professional practice, including the impacts of technology and sustainability.

Responsibilities:

Qualification Development & Updates: Lead the development and timely, controlled update of all aspects of ICAEW’s qualifications. Ensure updates are justified and implications are thoroughly communicated.

Strategy Contribution: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to contribute to a medium/long-term strategy for ICAEW’s qualifications.

Annual Updates Management: Oversee the annual update process of syllabuses and other relevant content, ensuring stakeholder engagement, adherence to strict timelines, and integration into existing processes and communications.

New Qualifications: Support and play a key role in the research, development, rollout, and communication of new and evolved qualifications.

Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including ICAEW examiners, gathering and interpreting data to understand and meet their needs.

Representation: Represent the department at key meetings, ensuring qualifications are reflective of current workplace practices.

The Ideal Candidate:

As the successful candidate you will possess the ability to assimilate and interpret technical and regulatory requirements in an ever-evolving landscape. You will bring up to date knowledge of working practices in the accountancy or business sectors, naturally balanced with a deep understanding of the Professional Education sector.

You will have demonstrable experience of new product development, robust testing, product launch and project management to get it to market. Working across a matrix structure you will be emotionally intelligent to know when to coach, facilitate growth and development, but also ensuring key milestones are met.

Extensive experience of stakeholder management to board level is vital alongside the ability to analyse, report and present in a rich and compelling style.

A chartered accountancy qualification is advantageous, however, we welcome all applicants from across the professional and higher education sector.
