Junior Packaging & Application Engineer

The University of Reading is seeking to appoint a new Junior Packaging & Application Engineer to join our continually expanding Packaging & Application team. The Packaging & Application team are responsible for delivering the software requirements across the University and this role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the student and staff teaching and learning experience and support the academic and administrative functions of the University. 

• Knowledge of Application Support (Microsoft Windows operating system and application software) through delivery mechanisms in use at the University (JAMF, AppsAnywhere, VDI).
• Knowledge of a wide variety of IT systems such as operating systems (Microsoft, macOS).
• Good team working ability.
• Excellent communication skills, including presentation of technical issues for nonspecialist audiences

The Packaging & Application team are responsible for the packaging and deployment of applications for staff and students, utilising tools like SCCM, InTune and AppsAnywhere.

As a Junior team member, you will be playing a supporting role working with the Packaging & Application Engineers in the packaging of applications, using your current skills and knowledge and a willingness to develop these to learn software packaging.

You'll use your excellent communication skills to work effectively within the team, and with a wide range of staff across the University, to ensure that every application is meeting the needs of our communities, and with the ability to work under pressure you'll thrive in a fast-paced environment where every day brings new challenges and opportunities.
