A position exists for a Research Assistant in the Department of Engineering, to work on low cost digital automation solutions in industrial contexts. The post holder will work with the Distributed Information and Automation Laboratory (led by Prof. Duncan McFarlane).

The post holder will be located in West Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, UK.

The key responsibilities and duties are developing industry and lab-based demonstrators providing digital automation solutions; testing and experimenting with solutions to assess their effectiveness and impact on connected manufacturing systems and people; and generating and supporting presentations and reports.

The skills, qualifications and experience required to perform the role are to have a Bachelors degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, Computer Science or related subjects; experience in planning and development of digital automation or augmentation systems; and experience in the use of low cost sensing, communication and computing devices.

Salary Range:  

Research Assistant: £29,605 - £33,966 

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31 March 2025 in the first instance.
