Job overview

Following the departure of our current Director of CYP Psychological Therapies Training, we are looking for another passionate, highly able and tenacious individual to take our CYP MH Workforce Transformation Training Portfolio (formerly known as CYP IAPT) forward to the next stage of development. This exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly expert and experienced psychological therapist, supervisor and trainer in an evidence based psychological therapy for Children & Young People (CYP), with a track record of effective leadership related to strategy implementation and service transformation. This national transformation project commenced in 2011 when the Psychological Therapies Training Centre (PTTC) was commissioned to provide a portfolio of evidenced-based psychological therapies training to CYP services in the North of England. We have been highly successful in delivering the commissioned training in partnership with Health Education England (now NHS England), our Service Manager Partners across the North and beyond, and the University of Manchester, and have expanded the portfolio significantly over the last 12 years. We currently run 12 CYP programmes mostly at Postgraduate level (in addition to our portfolio for psychological therapies training for working with adults) across a range of therapeutic specialities, employing around 50 programme/ pathway leads and clinical tutors, training around 300 students per year.

Main duties of the job

To join with the Senior Management team and Director of CYP Low Intensity Psychological Therapies Training in leading on the development, delivery and management of a multi-faceted programme of training (workforce and managers) aimed at transforming participating CYP services in the region.

Together with the Senior Management Team, to enable and ensure that participating services deliver the outcomes specified by the Department of Health (DH), and to participate in and lead on aspects of the strategic development of the CYP MH Workforce Transformation Project (formerly known as CYP IAPT) at a national level.

To develop the CYP component in all PTTC programmes as part of a strategic plan to develop the skill of the CYP workforce in the region.

To take a regional leadership role, and to attend regional and national meetings relevant to CYP MH Workforce Transformation Project to participate in national and regional project management and development.

To deliver and develop the CYP MH Workforce Transformation Project training programme within the North-West and beyond, as commissioned, in line with the aims of the Department of Health. This includes responsibility for the various strands of delivery required: therapy training, service supervisor training and service management training, with structures in place to ensure that the required national outcomes are achieved in services.
