About the opportunity

Positions in this opportunity are for talented educators with a passion for, and demonstrated excellence in, educational practice and innovation, and research capability (in disciplinary and/or education-related research). This newly recruited group of educators will support an uplift in the teaching capability and student experience at the University of Sydney, while also developing as leaders in the education space at the University.
You will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to teaching and learning design, delivery, and evaluation in your specialised field while you also contribute to research in relation to your discipline and/or your educational practice. As part of this role, you will also contribute to the governance, leadership, and engagement work of your employing school, particularly as it relates to education.
Successful candidates will be expected to dedicate most of their contribution to teaching and teaching-related activities (70%), while also engaging in research (20%) and governance, leadership, and engagement (10%). Successful appointees support, coordinate, and teach undergraduate and postgraduate coursework Units of Study. Laboratory tutorial, studio class deliveries, and workshop management and teaching may also be a key part of the roles. These positions may also assist and guide the academic coordinators of other units within the discipline.
Over time, staff appointed to these roles will be supported to engage with professional development opportunities to build their capability to lead change and improvement in teaching at the University.

The School of Chemistry welcomes applications from talented tertiary educators for two education focused positions:
The successful candidates will be responsible for the design and delivery of a contemporary undergraduate lab teaching program in Chemistry. They will work with unit coordinators, lecturers, the technical and administrative support teams to deliver an engaging, enriching, stimulating, and student-centred lab program, ensure its integration with our wider Chemistry course and cognate units in other disciplines, and drive a cycle of reflective teaching practice and continuous improvement. Key aspects of this role include development of new practicals, supervision of lab classes, assessment design, maintaining safety, and leadership of the demonstrator team.
School of Mathematics & Statistics
The School of Mathematics and Statistics welcomes applications from talented tertiary educators for four Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (Education focused) positions.
The successful candidates in the School of Mathematics and Statistics will lead the running of our large first year and second year units and therefore should have the ability to coordinate large size units and to teach first year or second units on statistics, mathematics or applied mathematics. They should have a strong, full time, and long-term commitment to Mathematics Education.
The School of Physics welcomes applications from talented tertiary educators for two Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (Education focused) positions.
The School of Physics is a vibrant teaching and research community. One of the successful candidates will take a leading role in running our experimental laboratory undergraduate teaching program and innovating within this program. The other appointee will contribute to teaching innovation and curriculum development in areas including experimental laboratory, interdisciplinary physics, or computational physics teaching. A PhD in Physics or a closely-related field is required.
The School of Psychology welcomes applications from talented tertiary educators for a Senior Lecturer (Education focused) position. The successful candidate will contribute to excellence in teaching and curriculum development in one or more areas of Psychology, such as, but not limited to, cognitive psychology, social psychology, learning, personality and individual differences, neuroscience, health psychology, clinical psychology, statistics and research methods. A PhD or equivalent in Psychology or a closely-related field is required.
School of Life and Environmental Sciences
The School of Life and Environmental Sciences welcomes applications from talented tertiary educators for Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (Education focused) positions. The School of Life and Environmental Sciences covers a broad array of majors and specialist degrees – from Agricultural and Food Sciences, Biology, Ecology and Conservation, to Molecular and Cellular Biosciences – and supports diverse student cohorts. The successful candidates will have a strong commitment to a career in education and will contribute to excellence in teaching and curriculum development.
Sydney School of Veterinary Science
The Sydney School of Veterinary Science welcomes applications from talented tertiary educators for an Associate Professor (Education-focussed) position. The successful candidate will contribute to teaching and curriculum development in Veterinary Clinical Pathology. A specialist qualification in Veterinary Clinical Pathology permitting registration with the NSW Veterinary Practitioners Board is required. The successful candidate will have experience in the global veterinary education accreditation process and be willing to contribute to ongoing curriculum reform and accreditation preparedness for the school.

They will have a demonstrated ability to interact effectively with students, facilitating and guiding their learning in research, theory, and laboratory sessions. They will also have demonstrated ability to conduct research and (at all levels, but particularly at Level C and D) a willingness to develop a program of education-related research over time.

The position level will be determined based on the candidate’s skills, experience, and knowledge assessed by the selection committee.
