Join our academic team at Teesside University International Study Centre! We are seeking a dedicated Academic English Skills Tutor to contribute to the vibrant learning environment across our diverse range of programs.

You will work with colleagues across the Centre to ensure the effective delivery of teaching programmes in line with our teaching, learning and assessment strategy, your specific background, qualifications, and experience as well as TUISC aims for an outstanding student experience. You will also contribute directly to student support and to the development and implementation of innovative teaching practices across the UKE Centre.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Teesside University International Study Centre programmes cover the following subject areas:

  • Foundation: Business, Humanities, Social Sciences and Law; Computing, Engineering and Health Sciences.
  • International Year 1: Business; Engineering and Computing
  • Accelerated Year 2 Entry: Business; Engineering and Computing
  • Pre-Masters: Business Management; Computing, Engineering and Science.

Key elements of the role:

  • Contribute to module design, delivery, and development in collaboration with the Head of Curriculum (English).
  • Deliver teaching sessions with a load of up to 25 hours per week.
  • Prepare unit examinations and assess formative and summative submissions, providing timely feedback.
  • Develop and update course material for modules and the Virtual Learning Environment (VLE).
  • Work with the administration team for induction and ongoing student support.
  • Implement quality assurance procedures at module and session levels.
  • Contribute to annual monitoring and course reviews.
  • Maintain accurate records of students' attendance and performance.
  • Attend standardisation, moderation, and other quality assurance meetings.
  • Participate in program management meetings.
  • Engage in regular training and development activities, documenting these activities.

ABOUT YOU

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a related subject area (Essential)
  • Relevant Teaching Qualification: TEFL-I/ TEFLQ status such as CELTA/DELTA/Trinity Dip or equivalent, and/or MA in TESOL/TEFL/Linguistics (Essential)
  • Experience of teaching in the UK Higher or Further education sector and preferably a teaching qualification and experience of working with international students (Essential).
