Are you interested in working in a dynamic research environment within a Russell Group University? We are looking for an experienced flow cytometrist to support ongoing projects focussed on prevention and therapeutic advances for solid tumours that metastasise to bone. You would primarily be working on an MRC funded project in “the Ottewell laboratory” that is being carried out in collaboration with commercial partners, Atlanthera. The project is designed to establish the effects of bone targeted therapies on metastatic outgrowth of tumours in bone and determine any potential off-target effects on immune cell populations. Your role would be to isolate cells from bone and soft tissue, design multicolour immune cell specific antibody panels and perform flow cytometric analysis of stained samples. You will also be responsible for carrying out trouble shooting, where necessary, and feeding data back to the research team. This project includes the additional opportunity of working with PhD and MSc students to help isolate rare tumour cell populations from the bone marrow for downstream analysis.

The project is initially funded for 50% full time equivalent for 9-months, with the intention of applying for further funding to expand the duration of the role. We are committed to exploring flexible working opportunities which benefit the individual and University.

We’re one of the best not-for-profit organisations to work for in the UK. The University’s Total Reward Package includes a competitive salary, a generous Pension Scheme and annual leave entitlement, as well as access to a range of learning and development courses to support your personal and professional development.

We build teams of people from different heritages and lifestyles from across the world, whose talent and contributions complement each other to greatest effect. We believe diversity in all its forms delivers greater impact through research, teaching and student experience.

This vacancy is part of a Fair Recruitment pilot scheme within the Faculty. This is a positive action initiative which aims to improve staff diversity and to deliver an inclusive recruitment experience for all applicants.
