About School

The School of Environment and Chemical Engineering of Shanghai University, founded in September 2000, is a comprehensive college with multiple disciplines, including environment, chemical engineering, nuclear technology and materials. In recent years, the college has focused on the mission of achieving carbon peaking and carbon neutrality goals and serving the construction of ecological civilization. Innovative research has been carried out in the areas of multi material environmental compound pollution control, environmental health and Nano medicine, carbon reduction and carbon reduction recycling, green energy and chemical industry, nuclear science and technology, and breakthroughs have been achieved.

The college is now established by the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering, the Department of Chemical Engineering and Technology, the Institute of Radiation Application, the Institute of Environmental Pollution and Health, the Institute of Nano-chemistry and Biology, the Institute of Clean Energy Resource and Green Chemistry, the National Laboratory of the Organic Compound Pollution Control Engineering, and the Shanghai Research Center for Multi material Environmental Pollution Control Engineering. The college has 2 undergraduate majors in environmental engineering and chemical engineering and technology, 3 first-class discipline master degree conferring program of environmental science and engineering, chemical engineering and technology, and nuclear science and technology, 2 first-class discipline doctor degree conferring program of environmental science and engineering and chemical engineering and technology, and a postdoctoral research station of environmental science and engineering. For the years, the college has focused on the fundamental task of establishing morality and cultivating people, and has strived to cultivate outstanding innovative talents with solid environmental or chemical professional foundation, international vision, social service awareness, original innovation and engineering application ability, and the responsibility of ecological civilization construction.

In the past five years, the college has undertaken and completed a number of projects including the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission, and the Education Commission. In 2021, the research fund has exceed 100 million yuan; It obtained 1 international graphene product standard test certification, 1 Ministerial standard of Ecological Environment and 3 group standards; It has won the second prize of the National Natural Science Award, the National Guanghua Science and Technology Award, the first prize of the Shanghai Natural Science Award, the first prize of the Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award, the second prize and the third prize of the provincial and ministerial science and technology progress award, etc. Nearly 900 SCI papers were published in Nature, Nature and Science sub journals, PNAS, EST and other international journals, and more than 70 papers were cited by ESI; In 2018, the environmental and ecological discipline entered the top 1% of ESI in the world; In 2021, the chemical engineering discipline has entered the top 150 of the world's first-class disciplines in ARWU; In THE 2021, the Department of Environmental Science and Engineering of the College was selected as A -, the Department of Nuclear Science and Technology was selected as A, and the Department of Chemical Engineering and Technology was selected as B+.

Responsibilities:

Engage in scientific research focus on the frontiers of development in the fields of environmental and chemical engineering, like environmental pollution detection and control, environmental health, ecological restoration, green energy and chemical industry, polymer chemical industry, biochemical industry, nanomedicine nanomaterials and catalysis, nuclear science and technology, etc

Publish high-level papers, and apply for research projects.

Teach and guide undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral students 

Requirement:

Excellent young scholars who received doctor’s degrees, ideally have two consecutive years of research experience or above; excellent post-doctors (ideally 2-3 years of experience as post-doctors); excellent young scholars with official teaching or research positions in universities, scientific research institutions or enterprise research divisions, aspiring to join Shanghai University and develop together.
