Appointments at Senior Lecturer level will be considered for suitably qualified candidates.

Fixed Term (Tenure Track): 5 Years tenure track, subject to a satisfactory formal review at the end of year three, the expectation is that the post-holder will then move to a standard University academic open-ended contract at the end of year five.

Edinburgh Medical School: Biomedical Sciences wishes to appoint an Academic Track Lecturer in Integrative Biomedical Sciences to support and develop teaching and research linked to the undergraduate Dual Award Honours programmes in Integrative Biomedical Sciences and Biomedical Informatics jointly developed with Zhejiang University, China. The post-holders will spend up to 12 weeks per annum on teaching-related activities at the University of Edinburgh-Zhejiang University (ZJE) Institute based at the Zhejiang University International Campus in Haining, China (http://zje.intl.zju.edu.cn/). Candidates with experience in an integrative and/or a systems-based approach to a research field in biomedical sciences are particularly encouraged to apply.

As a member of the team based at the University of Edinburgh you will be part of an exciting, vibrant research-led academic community offering opportunities to work with leading international academics whose visions are shaping tomorrow’s world. 

The appointee will be expected to develop and maintain an independent research programme that complements research priorities across the Research Institutes hosted in Edinburgh Medical School, College of Medicine & Veterinary Medicine and the ZJE Institute, including in educational research. Establishing collaborative research programmes at the ZJE Institute is strongly encouraged. Your collaborative research potential will be evidenced by publications in leading international peer-reviewed journals and the ability or potential to obtain external grant funding. 

The appointee will be involved in the development and delivery of the Dual Award Honours programmes in Biomedical Informatics that are delivered, in English, at the International Campus of Zhejiang University at Haining in China by staff based at the University of Edinburgh, Zhejiang University and the ZJE Institute. The appointee will be expected to spend up to 12 weeks per annum on teaching-related activities in China. The appointee will develop a teaching portfolio depending on their expertise and experience and may also contribute to postgraduate and other undergraduate programmes at ZJE and the University of Edinburgh.
