Description of University

New Uzbekistan University is the first public autonomous university in Uzbekistan, located in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. New Uzbekistan University was founded in 2021 by the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan Mr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the same line with the development of presidential educational institutions.

New Uzbekistan University aims to benefit society through excellence in science, research, and education. New Uzbekistan University educates the next generation of leaders of Uzbekistan in engineering, industrial and public administration, and various fields of economy and society. Core features of New Uzbekistan University University include academic freedom and internationally recruited faculty; English as the main language of instruction and research; entirely merit-based admission and distribution of scholarships based on the academic progress of students; and integrated teaching and research starting at the undergraduate level.

Professor Wolfgang Anton Herrmann, the honorary president of New Uzbekistan University, has had a remarkable career spanning more than four decades. As President Emeritus of the Technical University of Munich (TUM), Professor Herrmann has played an instrumental role in shaping TUM's success and growth over the years, transforming it into one of the leading institutions for science and engineering in Europe. 

Qualification

  • Ph.D. degree from a reputed University in Computer Science or a closely related field;
  • Must have held Full Professor rank, ideally 10+ years;
    • Associate Professor rank, ideally 2 to 5 years;
    • Assistant Professor rank, ideally 1 year.
  • Descent research profile and undergraduate/graduate student output;
  • Experience in the development and review of the program curriculum; 

Teaching duties:

  • Full-time faculty members are required to teach up to 12 hours per week;
  • At NUU Engineering School, lectures are accompanied by hands-on tutorial sessions to give the opportunity for students to try out lecture content during the tutorials or labs. It is necessary to conduct and coordinate tutorial sessions.
  • Develop the course syllabus and elaborate its integration with other courses;
  • Prepare the lecture materials including short lecture notes for the tutorial sessions so that students can accomplish assignments by following the step-by-step instructions;
  • The subject(s) to teach will be decided after discussion before starting the new semester;
  • Engage with other faculty members in the development of teaching, learning, and assessment strategies. 

Research and Academic Collaboration

  • All professors are highly encouraged to conduct research in the fields of their interests and collaborate with their colleagues within and outside the University;
  • All professors are required to publish 2 (two) research paper every calendar year in a journal that is indexed by Web of Science or SCOPUS;
  • Active participation in the attraction of funds from sources of financing of innovation and research activities;
  • Participation in regular faculty seminars organized by the department and school.
  • Participation in international conferences is encouraged.

Contract term:

1 year and extendable as specified in the contract

Paid vacation (per year):

56 working days (including Saturdays) based on the academic calendar approved by the Employer. The full annual paid leave during the first year is granted in case the Employee has worked the full year, otherwise, the duration of annual paid leave is calculated proportionately to the worked period.

Salary: $42,000 to $110,000
£34,575.49 to £90,554.86 converted salary* p.a. depending on qualification and experience; up to $13,400 for accommodation, relocation & travel
