About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant or Research Assistant to join our team to provide quality research support to a major UKRI-funded project examining international law enforcement information exchange between the UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the USA. 

The project involves close collaboration with academics, practitioners, and industry actors, with the opportunity for independent work, to assist with peer-reviewed outputs, and for national and international travel for data collection and wider dissemination.

Supporting your personal and professional development (i.e. supported by the PI and with various training opportunities), you will have the opportunity to work and network, with other academics and experts in industry and practice, nationally and internationally and contribute to a novel research study with a high impact potential.

The role is advertised on a full-time basis based on-campus. However, part-time hours and/or Uk-based remote working will be considered.

About You

As Postdoctoral Research Assistant or Research Assistant in Policing you will be able to: -

  • Work well as part of a team and on own initiative, organising and prioritising work effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Work within ethical guidelines and maintain high levels of research integrity at all times, including the management of research data.
  • Demonstrate high level skills in the use of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word and data analysis software (i.e. NVivo, SPSS).
  • Travel with the PI (i.e. to meetings and conferences).
  • Promote the project, and findings, via professional and social media networks, as well as update the project website.

If appointed at Grade 6 Research Assistant, you must have: -

  • An ability to conduct literature reviews, and assist with report/article writing.
  • Experience with qualitative (essential) and quantitative (desirable) research methods and analyses.
  • Assist with project administration.
  • Post Graduate Qualification (or near completion) with evidence of research, in a related discipline (i.e. policing, psychology, criminology).

If appointed at Grade 7 Postdoctoral Research Assistant, you must have: -

  • Experience in designing and executing research using mixed research methods.
  • Previous experience of conducting high quality research involving law enforcement (or other criminal justice / partner agencies).
  • A PhD (or near to completion) in policing or a related field
