Job Description

We are looking to recruit a Senior Quantitative Researcher, to join as part of our team expert in quantitative public health research in the field of Tobacco Harm Reduction. Since 2014, the Centre has been undertaking regulatory science research, including cross-sectional and longitudinal studies, to evaluate the public health impact of electronic cigarettes and other next-generation tobacco and nicotine-based products.

The successful applicant will contribute to the statistical expertise within the Centre; ensure studies undertaken are executed to a high level of statistical rigor; use well-established methodologies; be experienced in the analysis and publication of quantitative data; and excel at working to a high level of detail in a diverse and often time-critical, high-pressure environment. Successful applicants will be expected to be able to lead projects within CSUR, requiring minimal support from other senior staff members.

Essential criteria:

  • Expert in using SPSS to analyse data.
  • An ability to confidently interpret and present study findings to regulatory bodies and professional and lay audiences to tell the story of the impact of the findings on public health and policy.
  • Substantial experience working within the field of public health or in the tobacco and nicotine industry.
  • A master's degree or above
  • Have authored at least 5 peer-reviewed publications, published in high impact-factor public health journals.

Funding has been secured for 5 years initially. If successful, you would be working in a supportive exciting research environment with an attractive salary package of between £55,000-£65,000 per annum which in addition offers incentive-based bonus payments. Our work is all about research within a fast-paced and dynamic team, you won’t be burdened by admin or, bureaucracy nor will you need to divide your attention to teach or tutor.

We offer a generous Royal London Insurance pension, life insurance, good sickness benefits, and private health insurance. We work from beautiful recently refurbished offices in the West End of Glasgow and offer a supportive, open work environment where all our staff are valued and well-resourced. We allow our staff to work from home one day a week but, essentially, we are office-based.
