About the Role
We are looking for an ambitious individual, able to complement and expand our internationally renowned multidisciplinary research within future transport systems, focused on the aerospace field. In REF2022 SEMS was ranked 7th overall and 2nd for the quality of our research outputs.

We are looking for either world-leading researchers, to make significant contributions at the forefront of international research (Teaching & Research: T&R route) or for individuals with a strong industrial or engineering professional background, able to expand engineering professional practice within the school (Teaching & Professional Practice: T&PP route). The T&R route allocates ~50% of time to research activity. The T&PP route focuses on leadership and education delivery, allocating ~25% to ongoing engineering professional practice, for example consultancy or leadership within professional bodies.

About You
T&R: Applicants should have a proven track record of research achievement demonstrated through refereed journal publications, and at a minimum outstanding potential for research income generation, with a proven track record expected for senior lecturer level.

T&PP: Applicants require a clear strategy to integrate and grow professional engineering practice within the school and augment our industrially focused impact.

A commitment to high-quality student education is essential, to develop and support our taught programmes. Experience of teaching in spacecraft dynamics, aerodynamics, flight control and simulation, Python-based aerodynamic simulation is highly desirable. Candidates with teaching and research/professional practice interests in green aviation, urban air mobility, and physics-driven AI methods for aerospace engineering are especially encouraged to apply.
