The University of Worcester is a high achieving, award-winning, dynamic institution set within an inclusive and engaged community. The number one University in England for gender equality, according to the last three years of the Times Higher Education’s University Impact Rankings, with multiple accolades for teaching quality, inclusion, contribution to the community, and environmental sustainability, the University has been shortlisted as Times Higher Education University of the Year three times in recent years.

One of the best Universities for health education, Worcester has founded the distinctive Three Counties Medical School [TCMS], aiming to widen access to careers in medicine and retain graduates in the local area. The School’s MBChB curriculum emphasises problem-based learning [PBL], early patient contact, programmatic assessment, and an emphasis on community-orientated clinical placements at every stage.

We now wish to appoint a number of Medical Education Facilitators (MEFs) to support the on-going delivery of the curriculum across years 1 and 2 (Phase 1). This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the team as the Medical School, which opened to students in September 2023, enters its next phase of development.

You are invited to apply for a part-time post (between 0.2-0.8 FTE/ 1 – 4 days a week) to deliver a combination of Problem Based Learning (PBL) and/or Integrated Clinical Methods (ICM) contributing to the programme across the week. As a PBL Facilitator you will meet with groups of students on Monday and Fridays, as an ICM Tutor on Tuesdays and/or Thursday over 35 weeks term time, and the remaining time will be devoted to preparation, curriculum development, career development and the assessment of students. Acting as Personal Academic Tutors you will meet at least 4 times a year with individual students and be responsible for updating student records and liaising with student support services.

If you are interested in joining us at this exciting time and would relish the challenge of playing a part in the future development of the Three Counties Medical School as we train the next generation of doctors, we welcome your application.

What's in it for you?

  • Annual incremental increase up to £54,395, with the opportunity to progress to £59,422 (per annum pro rata)
  • 47 days of leave per year (inclusive of bank holidays and University closure days)
  • Attractive Teachers Pension Scheme
  • Access to a range of benefits such as our Staff Retail Benefits Scheme, Cycle to Work Scheme and Tusker Car Leasing
  • Wellbeing advice and support through our Employee Assistance Programme
  • In-house training and development support
  • A friendly, inclusive and supportive culture and work environment

If you have any informal inquiries about these roles, please contact Professor Kay Mohanna, MBChB Programme Lead, via email at k.mohanna@worc.ac.uk.
