Job Summary

We are seeking applications for a Research Technician position in the Centre for Haematology, Department of Immunology and Inflammation at Imperial College London, supervised by Professor Nichola Cooper.

Professor Nichola Cooper’s laboratory focuses on understanding the molecular basis of autoimmune conditions in haematology, particularly immune thrombocytopenia (ITP), a condition leading to premature destruction of platelets. This post, funded by Novartis Pharma AG, is to work on an exciting new research project that will investigate the prognostic and predicted value of cellular drivers of autoimmunity in patients with ITP who have received B-cell depleting therapies.

Duties and responsibilities

  • You will use laboratory techniques, including multicolour flow analysis and T cell receptor sequencing, to analyse patient samples that have been collected by the Imperial College Tissue Bank. This will involve the use of high-throughput sequencing techniques, including ChIP-seq, RNA-seq, ATAC-seq and related methodologies.
  • You will also be a key contact in the Cooper laboratory, helping to coordinate the ongoing projects and training of students.
  • As part of your development, you will attend relevant workshops, local research seminars and lab meetings, and will develop contacts within the College and the wider community.

Essential requirements

  • You should have a BSc in Cell/Molecular Biology or related discipline.
  • An MSc in this field is desirable, but not essential. Experience working in a research laboratory is essential.
  • Possessing skills with cell culture, flow cytometry and/or chromatin biology work is desired, but training will be provided in any new techniques.
