ABOUT THE ROLE

Project LightArc will deliver a revolution in carbon capture and reuse. Sponsored by the Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy (CCUS Innovation 2.0), LightArc will use microalgae to convert raw end of pipe CO₂ emissions into biomass without the need to pre-process the flue-gas. Biomass contains high-value-protein that can be formulated into animal feed and other products. This project will deploy a novel bioreactor system and scale-up to process up to 100tCO₂ per day.

The role itself will support day to day activities on the project such as; husbandry of algae at laboratory scale and industrial scale, taking samples of biomass and analysis of cellular content, analysis of reactor performance, reporting results, input into production strategies…etc. Due to the nature of the work, the successful candidate may be required to work on the Singleton or Bay campus, and the Vale Europe Ltd deployment site as required. The ideal candidate will have a proven background in working within an algae production environment, either at laboratory or industrial scale or both.
