Brighton & Sussex Medical School is seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer or Reader in Public Health to complement the current research strengths in the Department of Primary Care & Public Health. Senior Lecturer is a senior career-grade teaching and research position. The postholder will be expected to provide a point of liaison between the academic department and regional Integrated Care Boards and/or local authorities, and ensure research is aligned to priorities and strategies for improving the health of the population. We especially welcome candidates with research interests in the areas of: health inequalities; population health and prevention; and the health of coastal communities. Post-holders are expected to show academic leadership in both teaching and research, and to support the management and strategic planning processes of the School and the University.

To be eligible for clinical academic pay scale, postholders must be eligible for inclusion in the GMC Full and Specialist Register with a license to practice/GDC Specialist List (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview) or be eligible for inclusion in the UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) for Public Health Specialists (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview).

The successful candidate will undertake research within the department, contribute to research leadership and research-led undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The department hosts placements and supervisions for Public Health Trainees from the new Kent, Surrey and Sussex School of Public Health and the postholder will provide support to the training and education programmes as appropriate and agreed.
